Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office has responded to a deputy request calling for checks of private plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine clinics, Orda.kz reports.
The request followed high-profile cases in which patients died after liposuction procedures in Almaty and Aktau. Deputies said the problem appears systemic and concerns not only illegal clinics, but also licensed private medical centers.
They asked authorities to inspect private clinics, tighten licensing control, monitor whether clinics reopen after serious violations, and publish statistics on complications and deaths after aesthetic procedures.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said these issues fall under the authority of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Control Committee of the Health Ministry. The committee has been instructed to carry out the relevant checks and report on the results.
