Preliminary hearings in the homicide case of teenager Sherzat Polat will begin on April 10, 2025, the family’s lawyer Meirman Shekeyev told Orda.kz.
The hearings will take place in the Specialized Inter-District Criminal Court of Taldykorgan, where most suspects are currently being held in pre-trial detention.
According to Shekeyev, the victims are preparing to file a civil lawsuit against all defendants.
Yes, we are filing a civil claim against all the accused. As for the minor charged with failing to report the crime, we’ll decide on legal action after consulting with Karzhaubay (Sherzat’s father – Ed.). We have not yet determined the exact amount of the claim," the lawyer said.
Recently, Sherzat’s family changed legal representation, replacing Aitbek Amangeldy with a new team of defense attorneys. The attorneys say they have reviewed all case materials and are fully prepared for trial. The Almaty Region’s Specialized Inter-District Court officially registered the criminal case on March 26.
