A video posted on social media shows waste scattered near several yurts on the shore of Lake Zaisan. Authorities in the East Kazakhstan region say they will inspect the area, Orda.kz reports.
The footage was posted on August 13. Its author alleged that the waste came from the operators of approximately 40–50 yurts near the village of Baitogas and claimed that some of it had been buried in pits.
The regional akimat said an inspection would be conducted in the Tarbagatai district on August 19. The team will include police, sanitary officials and representatives of the local administration and utility services.
If violations are confirmed, those responsible could face administrative penalties. The authorities also plan to organize a cleanup involving the yurt operators.
Officials said they had previously inspected the area and discussed waste collection with local businesses.
