Tokayev Offers Condolences After Deadly Mine Explosion In China

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a telegram of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping after a deadly explosion at a coal mine in Shanxi Province, Orda.kz reports.
The president of Kazakhstan expressed support for the Chinese people and the families of the victims. He also wished those injured a speedy recovery.
Rescue operations are continuing in China after a gas explosion at a coal mine in Qinyuan County. There were 247 miners underground at the time of the accident.
Before the incident, a sharp rise in carbon monoxide levels was recorded, followed by an outburst and explosion.
At least 90 people died in the accident. More than 200 miners were evacuated. Some of the injured were taken to hospitals, while several people remain missing.
Chinese authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the tragedy. Mine management representatives have reportedly been held accountable.
