In January 2025, Rosselkhoznadzor specialists discovered listeria bacteria in a batch of chicken meat from Kazakhstan, Orda reports.

Oversight over products imported from Kazakhstan was strengthened, and suppliers were required to confirm the safety of their goods.

The situation was commented on by the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

The Minister dismissed the concerns as a technical error, stating that subsequent testing proved the chicken was safe.

There was nothing, we established normal relations with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rosselkhoznadzor. The information was not confirmed. We checked ourselves just in case, took tests. Yesterday, the results came, everything is negative, no questions. They export as they do. But just in case, Russia has tightened control specifically on the digital marketing market. But here, probably, there is competition and other issues. But in general, opeartions are ongoing, we export, there are no problems, Saparov said at a government briefing.
