Kazakhstan's accession to the “Board of Peace” did not incur costs amounting to billions of dollars. This was announced during a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan by Yerlan Zhetybayev, the department's official representative, Orda.kz reports.
He added that joining the “Board of Peace” corresponds to the country's national interests and foreign policy objectives. This initiative aligns with the country's commitment to multilateral cooperation and the promotion of international stability.
Zhetybayev also commented on the issue of financing Kazakhstan's participation in the organization. He stated that the country joined the Peace Council without making any mandatory financial contributions.
As for funding, Kazakhstan joined the “Board of Peace” without making any financial contribution. The voluntary contribution of $1 billion mentioned in the charter is not a condition of membership. This is the right of every participant. We are aware that the media has also discussed the alleged deployment of a military contingent. In this regard, we urge you to rely on official sources. In his speech, the Head of State said that Kazakhstan is ready to support the international stabilization forces by sending medical units with a field hospital, as well as observers from the civil-military coordination centre.
At the same time, any decisions regarding the potential deployment of personnel will be made in strict accordance with national legislation.
In addition, Kazakhstan is ready to provide humanitarian assistance by:
- providing food support;
- allocating 500 educational grants to Palestinian students at Kazakhstani universities for a period of five years;
- sharing experience in e-government development.
When asked whether this meant that U.S. President Donald Trump's previous statements about financing were erroneous, he noted that he does not comment on the statements of other state leaders, only voicing Kazakhstan's official position.
