Kazakhstan to Extend Gas Export Ban for Six More Months

Kazakhstan plans to keep the current restrictions on the export of liquefied petroleum gas. The Ministry of Energy has drafted an order to extend the ban on exporting propane and butane for another six months, Orda.kz reports.
The draft order is now going through the required approval procedures. Once the regulatory legal act is published on the official portal, the decision may take effect.
The restrictions apply to fuel exports by road and rail. The authorities want to extend the ban to prevent a shortage on the domestic market and ensure stable supplies for consumers inside the country.
Kazakhstan has had restrictions on the export of liquefied petroleum gas, propane and butane in place since November 2023. The ban was extended for six months in May and October last year.
