Semey Teen Convicted Over Telegram Chat Targeting Foreign Students

Investigators found that in February 2025, a minor from Semey created a Telegram chat called Skinheads Industries–Semey. He became the group’s administrator and published messages humiliating people on ethnic grounds, according to the case file.

The court took into account his age, guilty plea and the fact that he had no prior criminal record.
Taking into account the requirements of Article 55, Part 2, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, which provides for lighter sentencing limits for minors, the court imposed a sentence of one year and four months of restriction of liberty.
The sentence has entered into force.
The court also reminded the public that spreading extremist ideas, humiliating people on the basis of nationality and calling for enmity is a criminal offense, including on the internet.
