Kazakhstan’s refineries have increased the depth of oil refining to 90%, the Ministry of Energy said, Orda.kz reports.
A year earlier, the figure stood at 87.4%. Growth was recorded at all three of the country’s major refineries. At the Atyrau refinery, the processing depth rose from 85% to 88%. At the Shymkent refinery, it increased from 86% to 88%, while at the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant, the figure reached 94%, up from 91%.
The ministry attributed the increase to higher production of light petroleum products, including gasoline and diesel. Their share rose from 70–79% to 75–81%. Increased bitumen production at the Pavlodar plant also contributed to the growth, rising from 366,000 to 426,000 tons.
By the end of 2025, gasoline production in Kazakhstan had reached 5.7 million tons, up 7% from a year earlier. Diesel production increased more sharply, reaching 6.1 million tons, or 16% more than the previous year.
The authorities expect to keep increasing the depth of refining to 94%. To achieve this, refineries plan to continue modernizing and expanding capacity.
