Electricity tariffs in Kazakhstan may rise by 4-5%, Deputy Energy Minister Sungat Yesimkhanov said, Orda.kz reports.
According to him, the increase is linked to the debts of energy transmission organizations, which now exceed 37 billion tenge.
In the future, these debts will be covered through tariffs. I think the impact will be small, on average about 4-5%.Yesimkhanov said.
He also explained that the debts arose at power plants because of the rise in gas prices in the second half of 2025. According to him, they will eventually be covered through tariffs.
At the same time, he noted that the main expenses are for repairs and wages. Tariffs, however, will rise gradually over several months, and the changes may affect not only electricity, but also heat and water supply.
