Interior Ministry Names Main Theories Behind Fatal Oskemen Plant Explosion

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is investigating an explosion at the Kazzinc plant in Oskemen. Deputy Interior Minister Sanzhar Adilov named two main possible causes of the blast, Orda.kz reports.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Mazhilis, Adilov said an investigative task force is working on the case under Part 4 of Article 156 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code, which covers violations of labor protection rules that result in the deaths of two or more people.
More than 10 forensic examinations have been ordered.
The main theories are a violation of the technological process and the human factor, namely a violation of labor protection rules. These are the two main theories. In any case, specialists from authorized state bodies, the Ministry of Industry, and the regional akimat are now working on the case,Adilov said.
He added that, in addition to the two people killed, two injured workers remain in the hospital. One of them is in serious condition.
