Doctors Describe Condition Of Victims Injured In Kazzinc Plant Emergency

Doctors have described the condition of the victims injured in an emergency at the Kazzinc plant, Orda.kz reports.
Five people were taken to a medical facility. Two were hospitalized, including one who is in extremely serious condition.
Murat Nurbikenov, acting deputy chief physician for medical affairs at the East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Medical Center, said the hospital received a mass casualty alert at 8:30 a.m. By 8:40 a.m., an emergency team had been formed in the department under the leadership of an intensive care specialist. The team included a traumatologist and a therapist. Patients began arriving at the hospital at 8:45 a.m.
A total of five victims were brought in — four men and one woman. Three of them were diagnosed with superficial bruises and abrasions and were released home after examination. Two patients were hospitalized.Nurbikenov said.
According to him, a man born in 1980 was admitted in extremely serious condition. Doctors diagnosed him with thermal burns covering more than 90% of his body, burns to the upper respiratory tract and corneas, and post-traumatic shock. He received emergency medical care.
The second victim, born in 1974, suffered a compression fracture of the third lumbar vertebra with damage to the processes. He was hospitalized in the trauma department.
