A SWISS Airbus A350 flying from Seoul to Zurich declared an emergency over Kazakhstan and was diverted to Almaty, Orda.kz reports.
The aircraft was operating as flight LX123. It departed Incheon International Airport at 2:52 a.m. Central European Time. While flying over the Karaganda region at an altitude of about 11,600 meters, the crew issued a distress signal. This happened at around 9:00 a.m.
The squawk 7700 code transmitted by the aircraft indicates a general emergency on board.
The plane then turned toward Almaty and landed there at 09:49 a.m. Central European Time. After landing, it left the runway and moved to a parking stand. At the time of publication, the aircraft remained at the airport.
The reason for the emergency landing was the co-pilot’s sudden illness. Orda.kz has requested additional information from the relevant authorities.
