CPC Terminal Suspends Loading Over Tanker Safety Risks

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) has temporarily suspended oil loading at its Black Sea marine terminal, Orda.kz reports. Around 80% of Kazakhstan’s oil exports pass through the CPC pipeline.
The Energy Ministry said the decision was made to protect vessels and their crews and to prevent environmental damage in the Black Sea. All CPC facilities continue to operate normally and are ready to resume loading once the situation stabilizes.
Because of restrictions on oil intake into the pipeline system and to prevent storage tanks from overflowing, oil companies made a controlled adjustment to daily production levels, resulting in a temporary decline in output. This is a technical measure intended to maintain the stability of production processes,the Energy Ministry said.
The ministry added that it was holding continuous consultations with CPC management, oil exporters and shipowners to ensure safe navigation and resume stable exports of Kazakh oil to global markets as soon as possible.
The suspension follows attacks on tankers in the waters surrounding the terminal. Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry previously called on partner countries to condemn the attacks.
