Drone Attacks Continue at CPC Terminal: Another Oil Tanker Hit

A drone struck the NELSA oil tanker while it was loading oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s Black Sea terminal, starting a fire aboard the vessel, Orda.kz reports, citing the сonsortium.
The tanker was loading oil at Single Point Mooring 1 when the drone hit its starboard stern. The deck and several compartments caught fire.
The drone struck the starboard side of the stern between the superstructure and the engine and boiler room, starting a fire on the deck and inside the tanker. Loading crews and emergency teams aboard CPC vessels extinguished the fire within several hours. Oil loading was stopped, and no oil spill or fire in the cargo tanks occurred,the CPC said.
Twenty of the tanker’s 22 crew members were evacuated by CPC tugboats. The captain and chief officer remained aboard.
The NELSA remains afloat, and the damage is being assessed.
