CEC Announces Final Results Of Constitution Referendum

More than nine million Kazakhstanis took part in the referendum on the Constitution, Orda.kz reports.
A total of 9,127,192 people cast their ballots. Voter turnout reached 73.12% of the roughly 12 million citizens eligible to vote.
Most voters supported the adoption of the Constitution. According to the final results, 7,954,667 people, or 87.15%, voted in favor. Another 898,099 people voted against it.
The CEC also said 146,558 ballots were declared invalid because both response options were marked. Another 127,868 ballots were spoiled.
Voting ended last for Kazakhstanis living abroad. The final polling station closed on March 16 in San Francisco at 8:00 a.m. Astana time. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 12,740 Kazakh citizens voted abroad in 54 countries. Turnout among overseas voters reached 88.6%.
