Kazakhstanis Abroad Complete Voting in Referendum

Voting by Kazakhstanis abroad in the national referendum has been fully completed, Orda.kz reports.
The last polling station to close was at the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in San Francisco, United States. It finished its work on March 16 at 08:00 Astana time.
According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, a total of 12,740 Kazakh citizens voted in 54 countries, resulting in a turnout of 88.6%.
On March 15 at 20:00, voting ended at all polling stations in Kazakhstan, after which election commissions began counting the ballots.
After the exit poll results were announced, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made a statement. He said the referendum was a historic event for the country and added that March 15 would henceforth be celebrated as Constitution Day.
The head of state also stressed that the country now faces its next political stage, with parliamentary elections expected to be held in Kazakhstan this summer.
