Boarding schools where children were taught religion without permission have been closed at the request of the prosecutor's office, Orda.kz reports.
A charity organization in Atyrau was closed for distributing extremist literature to teenagers.
An investigation revealed that the materials were prohibited from being distributed in Kazakhstan.
The Specialized Court for Administrative Offenses found the organization guilty under subsection 4 of Article 453 of the Administrative Offenses Code and fined it 516,880 tenge.
The court also determined that the organization had been teaching religious doctrines to children without proper authorization, using boarding facilities.
Following litigation filed by the city prosecutor's office, the state registration of four related organizations was revoked, and all associated boarding houses were shut down.
