Kazakhstan Sees Afghanistan as Key Regional Link

Afghanistan could become an important link between Central and South Asia and help expand trade and economic cooperation with the European Union, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yerlan Zhetybayev said, Orda.kz reports.
According to him, participants at the eighth meeting of EU and Central Asian special representatives and envoys for Afghanistan exchanged views on the current situation in the country and prospects for international cooperation.
The participants noted that Afghanistan’s development prospects could become an important factor in expanding trade and economic cooperation between Central and South Asia, as well as in strengthening ties with the European Union,Zhetybayev said.
He added that, following the meeting, representatives of Central Asian countries and the EU confirmed their readiness to continue working with international organizations, including UN agencies, to support stability and sustainable development in Afghanistan.
