Almaty Police Put More Than 3,000 Domestic Violence Offenders On Preventive Register

According to the results of April 2026, 3,104 people were put on the preventive register in Almaty. Police issued protective orders against 2,557 offenders, while the court imposed special behavioral requirements on another 547 people, Orda.kz reports.
In total, since the beginning of 2026, 67 crimes related to family and domestic relations have been registered in the city, compared with 71 in the same period last year. Deputy Head of the Public Security Department of the Almaty Police Department Aytan Eleusizov said this at a briefing at the Regional Communications Service.
According to him, since the beginning of the year, 127 people have been held liable for violating protective orders, while another 145 were held liable for violating special requirements. In addition, 2,173 people were brought to administrative responsibility for offenses related to family and domestic relations. Police received a total of 4,952 appeals and reports about such incidents.
To ensure the safety of victims, police actively apply measures to restrict and isolate aggressors. Seventeen people were placed in temporary detention centers, while another 347 offenders were taken to special reception centers,Eleusizov said.
The court also applies additional measures to protect victims. In particular, 30 special behavioral requirements were imposed on offenders, and six bans on approaching victims were issued.
Since the beginning of the year, 78 people have been sent for compulsory treatment for alcoholism, while another 30 offenders have completed special psychological programs in psychocorrection rooms.
Special attention is paid to helping women and children who find themselves in difficult life situations. Together with crisis centers, victims are provided with legal, psychological, and social support. Since the beginning of the year, 24 women have been sent to crisis centers, along with 49 minor children,police said.
Eleusizov added that after criminal liability for stalking was introduced, law enforcement agencies intensified their work to identify such cases and protect victims. According to him, stalking often begins with constant calls, threats, surveillance, and psychological pressure, and can later develop into serious crimes.
The fight against violence and stalking is not only the task of the police. It is the shared responsibility of the state, society, families, educational institutions, and every citizen. No threat, stalking, or act of violence should be ignored. Seeking help in time can prevent a tragedy,Eleusizov concluded.
