AI-generated illustration
Kazakhstan is updating security standards for oil facilities, main pipelines, railways, and nuclear industry enterprises, Orda.kz reports.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has amended several orders related to security activities. One of the most notable changes concerns new arming standards for employees of security organizations working at strategic facilities.
The rules now separately prescribe the use of pistols, rifles, carbines, and other rifled weapons by such guards.
The standards apply to outdoor posts, mobile response teams, cargo escorts, the protection of railway bridges and tunnels, and other categories of security. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has also updated rules on the number of weapons, ammunition, and reserve weapons.
The changes will affect more than weapons
Companies that want to work at facilities vulnerable to terrorist attacks must have at least two mobile response teams, centralized surveillance infrastructure, radio communication, and separate technical capacities.
Licenses and permits will be transferred to electronic format through digital services. Inspections of heads of security organizations will be strengthened separately. Police will make more active use of state databases and interdepartmental requests.
The rules also establish a mechanism allowing national companies to create their own security organizations.
