UN Secretary-General Responds to Russian Strike on Sumy

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern following the Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, Orda.kz reports.
In a statement on social media, Guterres condemned the continued targeting of civilians and emphasized that such actions are prohibited under international law. He reiterated the need for an immediate end to these attacks and called for a long-term ceasefire in Ukraine.

The Secretary-General also reaffirmed the UN’s support for efforts to reach a just and lasting peace that upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The missile strike on Sumy occurred on April 13. Initial reports cited 20 fatalities and 83 injuries.
By the afternoon of April 14, the Sumy Regional Military Administration had confirmed 34 deaths, including two children, and 120 injured.
