More Than Half of Heavy Trucks Checked in Astana Broke Weight Rules

During a month of inspections, officials found violations in more than half of the heavy trucks checked in Astana, with fines exceeding 92 million tenge, Orda.kz reports.
Since April 1, the Transport Ministry, together with the police and the akimat, has been inspecting heavy trucks at the entrances to the capital. The raids are aimed at overloaded vehicles carrying construction materials on city streets.
Over the month, inspectors checked 622 trucks. Violations were found in 347 cases, meaning more than half did not meet weight standards.
Six mobile transport control posts were used in the raids, and inspectors were brought in from across the country, from 17 regions.
The inspections are needed to protect roads from premature deterioration and to ensure traffic safety.the ministry said.
