The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to Kazakhstan’s protest following the attack by marine drones on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s single-point mooring (SPM), stating that it understands Kazakhstan’s concerns but insists Ukraine’s actions were not aimed at Kazakhstan or any third party, Orda.kz reports.
The ministry stressed that Ukrainian strikes are intended solely to reduce Russia’s military capability, which Kyiv views as the primary source of instability in the Black Sea region.
Ukraine's entire effort is focused on repelling full-scale Russian aggression. Through well-considered and strategically sound defense operations, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are systematically weakening the aggressor's military-industrial potential and depriving it of the means to wage a criminal war of conquest and murder our people. Ukraine is responding to the aggressor's strikes and attacks,
the statement reads.
Ukraine also noted that Kazakhstan has not issued statements condemning Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilians, housing, infrastructure, and the national energy grid, including substations at nuclear power facilities.
The ministry called for international efforts to focus on forcing Russia to end the war.
In conclusion, we reaffirm our unwavering respect for the people of Kazakhstan and our commitment to developing friendly and pragmatic relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan that are consistent with the historically strong ties between our peoples,
the MFA added.
As a reminder, on November 29 at 6:06 a.m. Astana time, floating drones attacked CPC marine infrastructure, seriously damaging the SPU-2 mooring system and taking it fully offline.
