Foreign Ministers from Ukraine, the U.S., France, Germany, and the UK have officially postponed negotiations, signaling what is diplomatically seen as a “downgrade in dialogue,” Orda.kz reports.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio canceled his planned attendance, citing scheduling issues. Steve Witkoff, Trump's envoy to the Middle East and a key figure in the negotiations, also did not set off for the talks.
Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, who has already arrived in London, is still expected to hold a bilateral meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s rejection of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace proposal is perceived as a significant factor contributing to the breakdown of the talks. Key elements of the plan reportedly include recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and making significant territorial concessions on Ukraine’s part.
According to Sky News, the remaining high-level meetings will now be held behind closed doors, with no press access.
