President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev arrived in Aqtau on a working visit, where he was introduced to key infrastructure and innovation projects across the Mangystau region, Orda.kz reports.
His visit began at the region’s first wholesale distribution center, a project backed by five billion tenge in private investment. Designed to store up to 40,000 tons of goods, the facility is expected to help stabilize food prices and reduce intermediary costs.

Toqayev also visited the Caspian University’s Technopark, where students are training in robotics, 3D design, IT, and engineering. The President emphasized the importance of developing skilled talent in high-tech and artificial intelligence sectors.

At the Aqtau seaport, Toqayev was briefed on ambitious plans to expand the region’s transport infrastructure.
Operating 24/7, the port is a vital node in both the East–West and North–South corridors. In 2024, traffic along the Trans-Caspian route rose by 62%, reaching 4.5 million tons. By 2028, the target is 10 million tons.
Currently, 24 infrastructure projects worth 1.9 trillion tenge are underway in the Mangystau region, said Transport Minister Marat Karabayev.

The President also gave the green light to accelerate construction of a new airport in the Kenderli resort area, expected to handle 150 passengers per hour and offer direct flights to Almaty and Astana.

Additional developments include a new container hub, which will boost capacity to 240,000 TEU, and two major highways — Center-West and Beineu–Sekseuil. These new roads aim to cut travel time between Astana and Aqtau by 800 kilometers.
Mangystau has all the potential to become a major logistics hub for Eurasia, Toqayev emphasized.
