President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev extended Easter greetings to Christians in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the holiday’s spiritual significance and its role in promoting unity and shared values, Orda.kz reports.
In his official message, the President highlighted the unique symbolism of this year’s celebration, as Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant communities worldwide observe Easter on the same day.
This bright holiday represents spiritual renewal and purification, instills hope and joy in the hearts of believers. It is deeply symbolic that this year Orthodox, Catholics and Protestants all over the world celebrate Easter on the same day,
Toqayev said.
He highlighted the contribution to social life in Kazakhstan, underlining the importance of mutual respect and cohesion:
Christianity, like other religions, plays an important role in the life of our society. Promoting high humanistic ideals, Easter traditions have long contributed to the preservation of family values and the strengthening of the cohesion and solidarity of our people, calling people to goodness and harmony. I am convinced that national unity, mutual understanding and harmony between representatives of all ethnic groups and faiths will always be a reliable basis for the sustainable progress of Kazakhstan.
The President wished all citizens health, prosperity, and happiness:
May the Easter holiday fill your homes with love and happiness! I wish all citizens health, prosperity and success in their creative endeavors!
Meanwhile, Orthodox Christians in Kazakhstan also marked the occasion with the arrival of the Holy Fire in Almaty on the night of April 20. Archpriest Igor Svetlichny, a cleric of St. Nicholas Cathedral, delivered the flame from Jerusalem.
The sacred fire was received at Almaty International Airport by members of the clergy and local parishioners. At 17:00, it is scheduled to be brought to the Ascension Cathedral.
The tradition of bringing a flame from the Holy Sepulchre to Kazakhstan began in 2007. The Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem is considered one of Christianity’s holiest sites.
