General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam participated in the Kazakh tradition of tusaukeser, Orda.kz reports.
The guest of honor cut the symbolic ties from a child’s legs. The child was dressed in traditional Kazakh attire, including a cap and a suit adorned with national patterns.
The ceremony took place during To Lam’s visit to the Ethnoaul exhibition, where President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev accompanied him. The Vietnamese official was introduced to elements of Kazakh culture, including crafts and traditional games.
Tusaukeser is a Kazakh ritual in which cords are tied to a child’s legs and later cut by a respected figure, symbolizing a wish for the child to walk confidently and live without obstacles.
