Floodwater washed out a crossing over the Krutenkaya River in the West Kazakhstan region, forcing villagers to take a longer route to the regional center, Orda.kz reports, citing My City.
The crossing was washed away by floodwater in the village of Zelenoye on April 18.
According to local residents, pipes were laid there last year and secured with cables, but the structure was washed out, while the pipes remained in place. Although the water level has already gone down, no restoration work has been carried out. As a result, people now have to take a detour of about six kilometers.
As it turned out, the crossing is not an official road. According to Maksim Musalimov, akim of the Michurinskoye rural district in the Baiterek district, residents of Zelenoye have been building a temporary road there for about 10 years to shorten the route to the city.
Every spring, the river washes away this embankment, because residents create only a soil embankment without any engineering standards.Musalimov said.
He added that there is now a dirt road from the village to the asphalt road and then a bridge across the river that meets all standards.
