Russia's Aircraft Shortage: Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport Comments

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport responded to Orda.kz's official inquiry regarding the aircraft shortage in Russia and Kazakhstan possibly providing cabotage transportation.
Earlier, reports surfaced that Russia began negotiations with "friendly" countries to resolve the issue with domestic flights. Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit named Kazakhstan as one of the potential partners.
To date, no official request has been received from the Russian side on the issue of cabotage transportation,The Ministry of Transport commented.
The department has clarified that Kazakhstan's priority is to meet the growing demand for domestic air travel.
In the first eight months of 2024, Kazakhstani airlines carried over 10 million people, which is 13% more than in the same period last year (8.7 million).
During this time, the country's airports served more than 20 million passengers - 16% more than last year (17.3 million).
