Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia favors a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, Orda reports.
However, he emphasized that the key issue is how this period would be used. He stated that he wants assurances that Ukraine will not conduct mobilization, engage in military training, or receive new weapons during the truce.
Everything in the Kursk region is under full Russian fire control. The withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the encirclement near Kursk is now impossible, Putin stated.
Putin also pointed out that the mechanisms for monitoring and verifying the ceasefire remain unclear. He highlighted the difficulty of enforcing a truce along the 2,000-kilometer front line in Ukraine.
The idea of a ceasefire is correct, but there are issues that need to be discussed, including with the United States,he said.
Additionally, Putin suggested that he could call Donald Trump to discuss the possibility of a ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Yury Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, told Izvestia that Putin is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, later this evening in a closed-door session.
Ushakov also commented on the ceasefire.
