Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov stated that the Kremlin is interested in a long-term resolution of the conflict with Ukraine rather than a temporary ceasefire, Orda reports, citing RBK.
We believe that our goal is a long-term peaceful settlement. That is what we are striving for — a resolution that takes into account our country’s legitimate interests and well-known concerns. Any steps that merely simulate peace efforts seem unnecessary in this situation, Ushakov said.
According to him, the proposal for a temporary truce is nothing more than a pause to allow Ukrainian forces to regroup.
