Tengizchevroil Fined Over Excess Emissions in Atyrau Region

In the Atyrau region, Tengizchevroil has been fined 53.7 million tenge for exceeding permitted pollutant emission limits, Orda.kz reports.
The violation was identified by specialists from the regional ecology department after reviewing submitted documents. According to the agency, the company significantly exceeded the allowed emissions levels.
The administrative cases were referred to the Zhylyoi District Court.
By a court ruling dated April 20, 2026, Tengizchevroil LLP was found guilty and held administratively liable.the department said.
Tengizchevroil recently began a phased restoration of oil production at the Tengiz field after a shutdown. The reason was a technical malfunction in the power distribution system, as well as precautionary measures. TCO said at the time that the incident was caused by a transformer fire between two gas turbine generators.
