Kazakhstan is considering extending the training of future doctors by one year, Orda.kz reports.
According to deputy Askhat Aimagambetov, the current model does not give students enough practical experience and does not allow them to begin working immediately after graduation.
The period of study is six years. After that, the student spends a six-month internship in a hospital without a clearly defined legal status, without access to medical systems, and without the right to take part in medical procedures. At the end of six years of study, graduates are unable to find work, since residency is required for everyone. Residency lasts from two to four years. At the same time, the number of state grants is extremely limited, and training is often carried out on a paid basis.he said.
In this connection, the deputy proposed changing the training model and moving to a seven-year system: six years of theoretical study and one full year of practical internship in medical organizations.
