A recent survey by the independent research project Demoscope, conducted in April among respondents in all regions of Kazakhstan, recorded broadly positive public attitudes toward the country’s main institutions of power, Orda.kz reports.

The survey covered all regions of the country, including Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and every region. Some 65.8% of participants chose to answer in Kazakh.

The president remained the most trusted public figure. According to the survey, 61.3% of respondents said they trust the head of state. This was the highest rating among all branches of government.

Confidence in the government was expressed by 47.4% of respondents, in local akimats by 50.2%, in parliament by 40.5%, in law enforcement agencies by 46.8%, and in the courts by 43.7%. For every institution listed, the share of respondents expressing trust was significantly higher than the share of critics.

At the same time, 72.4% of Kazakhstanis said the country is moving in the right direction: 44.6% confidently chose the answer “in the right direction,” while another 27.8% said “rather in the right direction.” That is almost three and a half times higher than the share of those with a skeptical view.

The government’s Fair Kazakhstan agenda also received notable support: 55.6% of respondents said the slogan corresponds to real actions.
