The pipeline, which will supply Russian gas to the northern and northeastern regions of Kazakhstan, has been included in the territorial planning scheme of the Russian Federation. The corresponding order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Orda.kz reports.
In the document, dated February 18, the gas pipeline to Kazakhstan is listed under number 386. The design volume of gas transportation is 10 billion cubic meters per year.
Russia will supply gas to Kazakhstan through the Tyumen Region, which borders the North Kazakhstan Region. Together with the nearby autonomous districts, this is the largest oil and gas region of the Russian Federation.
Last year, the Kazakh authorities agreed with the Russian Gazprom that gas transit from the Russian Federation through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan will continue until 2040.
Gas from Russia goes to Uzbekistan and is used for the needs of the northern regions of Kazakhstan.
