Scientists in Kazakhstan are developing a technology to produce biologically active dietary supplements for functional use based on domestic plant raw materials, Orda.kz reports.
The method has been described as innovative. The goal of the project is to create affordable and effective products with high antioxidant activity that could help prevent cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
The key component of the dietary supplements is lycopene, a natural antioxidant with pronounced preventive properties. Its deficiency in the diet may contribute to reduced immunity and an increased risk of chronic diseases. A technology has been developed for producing powders from tomatoes and watermelons while preserving the maximum amount of nutrients. Based on these components, an optimal composition of dietary supplements is being developed to meet the body’s daily requirement for active substances. the ministry said.
According to the report, the supplement also includes pumpkin seed powder and safflower oil.
