Winter Paralympics End In Italy As Cortina Hosts Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony of the XIV Winter Paralympic Games was held in the Italian city of Cortina d’Ampezzo at the Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio, Orda.kz reports.
The cultural program was dedicated to Italian art and the beauty of the Milan and Cortina regions. A large-scale show featuring music, light installations, and performances by artists unfolded in the arena. Through music, dance, and visual effects, the ceremony highlighted the athletes’ achievements and the atmosphere of the competition.
During the ceremony, the organizers summed up the results of the Games and thanked the athletes for their participation. The final symbolic moment was the traditional extinguishing of the Paralympic flame, marking the official end of the competition.
President of the International Paralympic Committee Andrew Parsons said the athletes had once again demonstrated the strength of the Paralympic movement.
You reminded the world that ability is defined not by limitations, but by determination, courage, and the pursuit of excellence. These Games have shown that sport can unite people through respect, fairness, and human achievement.he said.






As part of the ceremony, the relay was handed over to the next Winter Paralympic host. The Games will be held in the French Alps in 2030. The 2028 Summer Paralympic Games will take place in Los Angeles.
According to the final medal standings, China finished in first place with 15 gold, 13 silver, and 16 bronze medals. The United States came second with 13 gold, five silver, and six bronze, while Russia placed third with eight gold, one silver, and three bronze.
Kazakhstan finished the Paralympics in 18th place in the medal standings. Both medals for the team were won by Erbol Khamitov: gold in para biathlon and bronze in para cross-country skiing.
