Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov denied information about a telephone conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, Orda.kz reports, citing RBK.
Reuters and The Washington Post initially wrote about the alleged call. Supposedly, US President-elect Donald Trump called Putin and advised him "not to escalate" the situation in Ukraine. Trump reportedly reminded the Russian President of the significant US military presence in Europe.
Peskov, meanwhile, claims there were no such talks.
This is the most obvious example of the quality of the information that is now being published, sometimes even in fairly respected publications. It is completely untrue. It is pure fiction, that is, it is simply false information, Peskov stated.
Donald Trump said that shortly after winning the election, he communicated with the leaders of 70 countries, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump vowed during his campaign to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and said he could do so in just 24 hours. His promises have raised doubts in both Moscow and Kyiv. Peskov called Trump’s words an exaggeration, while Zelenskyy expressed concerns that a “quick solution” to the conflict could result in losses for Ukraine.
