On April 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a temporary ceasefire during the Orthodox Easter period, Orda.kz reports.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy supported the move and proposed extending the ceasefire for 30 days.
As part of the Easter truce, a prisoner exchange took place, with 246 individuals released by each side. Ukraine also received 31 wounded servicemen, while Russia received 15 wounded.

The list of prisoners released by Ukraine, shared by the public organization Nash Bykhod, includes two soldiers with their region indicated as Kazakhstan. Orda.kz was unable to verify this information.
In July 2024, Kyrgyz national Alisher Tursunov was included in an exchange.
Since the beginning of 2025, Russia and Ukraine have conducted three prisoner exchanges—one each month.
