Up to 125 billion soms were returned to the state — Kamchybek Tashiev announced this figure, Orda.kz reports, citing Kaktus.media.
The Head of the State Committee for National Security specified that the state returned the said amount from 2020 to 2024 as part of anti-corruption work. He also assured that such events would continue to be held and that all the accused would be punished.
Previously, corrupt officials got off with fines and remained free. However, after the adoption of the new law, they will not only pay fines but also serve prison time, he emphasized.
During the November 20 press conference, Tashiev said the state had returned 125 billion dollars. Later, the State Committee for National Security clarified that it was soms. Employees of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan also reportedly detained the author of letters with threats addressed to Kamchybek Tashiev.
Meanwhile, in July of this year, we wrote about the arrest of the cousin of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Ulan Japarov, on suspicion of fraud on an especially large scale.
He had previously been detained in a case of corruption schemes at customs. However, four months later, he was released under house arrest, and the case was sent to court.
Sadyr Japarov, commenting on his relative's detention, stated that “there is no selectivity in the fight against corruption.”
