Kazakhstanis will start paying the luxury tax on expensive real estate only in 2027, Orda.kz reports.
This year, owners of expensive property will not see increased tax amounts in their payment notices.
Gulmira Smagulova, head of the State Revenue Committee’s non-production payments administration department, said on social media that tax authorities are currently charging the standard property tax. These amounts will soon appear in banking apps and in the e-Salyq Azamat service.
Smagulova explained that the new Tax Code fixed higher rates for expensive property and formally introduced them from 2026. However, property tax in Kazakhstan is paid for the previous year.
No one will pay the luxury tax this year. In 2027, we will calculate it for 2026, and then the rules will take effect, the committee representative said.
