Kazakhstan may allocate an additional 20.7 billion tenge for major repairs of apartment buildings in 2027–2029, Orda.kz reports.
The government has supported a proposal by Mazhilis deputies to provide extra funding for the repairs.
Earlier, deputies asked Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev to resume budget loans to regions at 0.1% per year for seven years to finance major repairs of apartment buildings.
In response, Bozumbayev said that since 2022, 27.2 billion tenge has already been allocated from the national budget to repair 521 apartment buildings across the country.
The government supports the deputies’ proposal to allocate additional funds for 2027–2029 under the Budget Code and budget program 008, ‘Lending to regional budgets, budgets of cities of national significance and the capital for the overhaul of common property of condominium facilities.’ The funds would be used to repair 368 apartment buildings for a total of 20.7 billion tenge, including the replacement of 198 elevators,Bozumbayev wrote.
According to him, the issue is socially important and directly affects residents’ safety and comfort. Timely major repairs help extend the service life of buildings, reduce the risk of accidents, and improve living conditions.
Bozumbayev also noted that Kazakhstan still has a large number of apartment buildings in need of repair. Many have significant physical wear and require renovation of common property.
