Kazakhstan’s First 50 MW Data Center to Launch in June 2027

The first facility in Kazakhstan’s Data Center Valley is scheduled to begin operating in the Pavlodar region in June 2027. Construction is underway on a data center with an initial capacity of 50 MW, Orda.kz reports.
Progress on the project was discussed at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. According to the government, builders have completed 90% of the excavation work for the power and AI computing facilities. Foundation work and construction of administrative buildings have also begun.
By the end of December 2026, the main data center buildings, power units, administrative complex, checkpoints and part of the external utility infrastructure are expected to be completed. Commissioning is scheduled for May 2027, with the facility due to open one month later.
Supporting infrastructure is also being prepared. A 215 MW substation has been purchased, the water-supply system has been designed and work on telecommunications networks has begun. The site’s total capacity is expected to expand gradually to one gigawatt.
Our immediate priority is to bring the first facility online in June 2027. At the same time, we are building the infrastructure needed to expand the campus gradually as customer demand is confirmed,Kazakhtelecom chair Bagdat Musin said.
The meeting also covered the Cloud First Policy, or Data Embassy, project. It would allow foreign governments to store data in Kazakhstan while retaining full legal control over it.
NVIDIA and Firebird AI are involved in developing the data center ecosystem, while negotiations are underway with other international technology companies.
Bektenov instructed government agencies and state-owned companies to keep construction on schedule and step up efforts to attract foreign technology partners.
Earlier, Orda.kz reported on Kazakhstan’s agreements with China covering data centers, telecommunications, robotics and specialist training.
Huawei is one of the main partners. The Digital Ministry has signed an agreement with the company, while Samruk-Kazyna plans to purchase Huawei equipment. Kazakhtelecom and Hengtong Group will work on the Data Center Valley, while Transtelecom and GuoDong Group plan to build telecommunications towers to expand mobile coverage.
