Sports Ministry Sees No Conflict In Golovkin Leading NOC And World Boxing

Kazakhstan’s Sports Ministry sees no conflict of interest in Gennady Golovkin simultaneously heading the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan and the international federation World Boxing, Orda.kz reports.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov said Golovkin’s election as head of the international boxing federation was a major achievement for Kazakhstan.
Gennady Golovkin is a man who has made history and become a brand for Kazakhstan. Today, he has brought our country to this level in international sports for the first time. Before this, no Kazakhstani had headed an international sports federation of this scale. This is a major achievement for us,the minister said.
He also stressed that the National Olympic Committee continues to carry out its duties and works actively with international sports organizations.
Today, there are examples on the world stage of heads of international federations also leading their countries’ national Olympic committees. We have a full understanding of these issues. We are jointly promoting the development of sports, the Olympic movement, and cooperation with international federations,Myrzabosynov said.
He added that about 20 presidents of international federations have visited Kazakhstan so far.
