Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are laying a new digital highway across the Caspian seabed to connect telecommunications networks between Asia and Europe, Orda.kz reports.
A shipment of underwater fiber-optic cable for the strategic Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Sea Cable System project has arrived at the port of Kuryk in the Mangystau region.
According to the press service of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the large and heavy cargo was delivered in a convoy of three specialized trucks.
After acceptance and processing, the equipment will be sent to Azerbaijan for the construction of trans-Caspian digital infrastructure.
The Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Trans-Caspian digital highway will become part of an international digital telecommunications corridor linking Asia and Europe. The port of Kuryk is handling the transshipment and dispatch of cable and equipment for the Digital Silk Road project.
