Kazakhstan Looks To Hong Kong To Open New Farm Export Routes

A Hong Kong company will help promote Kazakhstani soybeans and processed soybean products on international markets and is ready to supply local farmers with soybean seeds, Orda.kz reports.
Soy Sky Farm Tech signed the relevant memorandum with Kazakhstan’s Food Corporation.
The document provides for the development of exports of Kazakhstani grains, legumes, oilseeds and wheat flour to China and Southeast Asian countries. The parties plan to use Hong Kong as a regional trade hub to enter Asian markets.
At the first stage, the partners will exchange information about customer demand, Kazakhstan’s export opportunities and promising areas of cooperation. They will also work through trade and logistics issues.
Under the memorandum, Soy Sky Farm Tech will help search for sales channels, organize logistics and analyze Asia-Pacific markets. The parties will pay special attention to developing soybean production and processing in Kazakhstan. The Hong Kong company said it is ready to supply Kazakhstani farmers with suitable soybean seed varieties.
The negotiators also discussed the possible use of forward contracts and other financial instruments to support agricultural producers.
