Authorities in Turkestan Region plan to build a mountain resort town in the Kaskasu mountains, Orda.kz reports, citing the regional akimat.
The project is planned on mountain slopes at an altitude of 3,200 meters above sea level. Officials say the area will become an ecological recreational zone with hotels shaped like ice formations, family recreation areas, business clusters, entertainment facilities, and sports infrastructure.
The akimat says the project will use environmentally friendly technologies and natural materials. Most facilities are expected to be built from stone, wood, and other materials designed to blend into the landscape.
The resort will also have modern cable cars connecting mountain peaks with the main recreation areas. Some facilities are planned to operate year-round. The project also includes a reservoir system with a capacity of about three million cubic meters. It is expected to collect meltwater and snow water for later use in recreational and water areas.
Digital technologies will be used to manage resort services. AI systems are expected to help regulate tourist flows, improve safety, increase energy efficiency, and raise service quality.
Authorities expect about 10,000 new jobs to be created during construction and after the resort opens.
