Kazakhstan has simplified visa procedures for foreign citizens, with nationals of 105 countries now able to apply for an electronic visa without visiting an embassy, Orda.kz reports.
Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov spoke about the changes during a meeting in the Majilis.
Kazakhstan also issues Digital Nomad Visas for IT specialists and Neo Nomad Visas for tourists. The receiving party can notify migration authorities of a foreigner’s arrival online.
At airports and major border crossings, tourist cards with QR codes are issued. They contain the necessary information about the rules of stay, emergency service contacts, and mobile operators. The QazETA mobile application is also being developed. Foreigners will be able to use it to access more migration services, starting with IIN registration. Parliament is now considering the relevant legislative amendments,Sadenov said.
Sadenov also proposed strengthening tourist police units and requiring tourist facilities to install video cameras connected to operational control centers.
According to him, tourist police currently work near attractions and in national parks across 18 regions of Kazakhstan. Officers speak foreign languages, advise tourists, prevent illegal private transportation, and assist transit transport drivers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has proposed that akimats, together with the owners of tourist facilities, equip them with video surveillance systems and integrate cameras into the operational control centers of internal affairs bodies.
