Kazakhstan has completed the main research stage of a new seven-volume academic work titled “History of Kazakhstan from Ancient Times to the Present Day,” Science and Higher Education Minister Sayasat Nurbek announced on Telegram, Orda.kz reports.
The editorial board has approved the final manuscripts of all seven volumes.
Today, a truly historic event took place: we completed the main scientific and methodological stage of preparing the seven-volume academic publication ‘History of Kazakhstan from Ancient Times to the Present Day’ and approved the final manuscript of all seven volumes. Considerable editorial work still lies ahead, including literary editing, unifying the style, preparing maps and illustrations, translation and layout. But today we can confidently say that the main research stage is complete,Nurbek wrote.
Work on the publication began in 2021 on the president’s instructions. More than 350 scholars contributed to the project, including 56 foreign researchers from 12 countries.
The authors studied materials from archives and museums in Kazakhstan and abroad. Their research included previously unknown documents from Chinese and Vatican archives.
Nurbek said this was the first academic publication to bring together the entire history of Kazakhstan, from ancient times to the present day.
